Cody Brookshire, Guitar/Ukulele
Cody Brookshire has been playing guitar since 1999, initially being drawn into rock, metal, and grunge styles as a young teenager. He majored in classical guitar performance at the University of North Georgia while also taking classes in music composition, theory, and audio/music technology, graduating in 2009. After enjoying a few years of being a full-time private guitar teacher, Cody enrolled for masters music composition study at the University of Georgia, and continued on to earn a doctorate in music composition, graduating in 2018. Alongside his studies, he was a teaching assistant for aural skills, music composition, theory, and electronic music.
Cody was an adjunct instructor at Reinhardt University from 2017 to 2020 before accepting an Assistant Professor position at Southern Illinois University where he taught music composition, theory, audio engineering, and music production. In 2022, a rare chance to teach in a project-based learning environment arose, so he took the opportunity to work with high school students in a unique setting at The Delta School in Arkansas. In 2024, Cody and his partner Brittany sought to relocate, and fell in love with Richmond and all it has to offer.
Throughout his career, Cody has been a guitarist in numerous groups of varying styles while also maintaining a studio of guitar, keyboard, and composition students. Driven by his own experiences as a student, he genuinely loves to inspire young learners and help them realize their creative potential.
